TEEM crosses through around two kilometres of Comazzo territory (in the West), on a slightly raised route (a few metres above ground level). Here, Tangenziale Esterna Spa will be undertaking a number of works, including an upgrade to Strada Provinciale 181 (from Comazzo to Merlino, including a fork to the hamlet of Lavagna), which will see improvements in a number of places to increase traffic safety on the road. Several curves along the existing route will be broadened, passing places added to make it easier for vehicles to pass, and a number of cycle/pedestrian paths built.
The “Muzza-San Biagio di Rossate” Special Environmental Project is key to offset-related work in this area. A major restoration will take place of the Bramante-inspired San Biagio Church (in the hamlet of Lavagna), along with construction of an extensive 9 km-plus network of cycle paths to foster access to the area and its natural and historic heritage using “slow movement” methods.
